Our lives are filled with God’s grace. As disciples, we are called to serve others in response and gratitude to God’s everlasting love. You are all invited to put your faith into action by taking part in our WE CARE BAGS for CLWR cross+generational service project.
So, what does “cross+generational” mean? “Cross+generational” is when we engage all generations together in living our faith – whether it be in worship, learning or service.
We are once again teaming up with the Abundant Life and St. Luke’s-Zion congregations to put together “Learning and Living Kits” that provide learning tools for less fortunate children overseas. Last year, these three congregations filled over 100 bags! This year, we have set a goal of filling 120 WE CARE BAGS!
Our WE CARE BAGS for CLWR service project will take place from Sept. 16th to Oct. 21st. There are two ways you can participate:
- Fill a WE CARE BAG with the following items:
3 lined notebooks
10 unsharpened pencils with erasers
1 metric ruler (30 cm), 1 pencil sharpener and 1 eraser
1 pack of crayons (or pencil crayons)
1 small and simple toy (new and not requiring batteries)
1 bar of soap and 1 toothbrush (new and wrapped)
1 tube of toothpaste (expiration date no earlier than one year)
- Make a monetary donation towards the $5.00 per bag shipping costs. A freewill offering will be collected at our Back to Church BBQ on Sept. 16th. In addition, you can place your donation envelope that is marked “WE CARE BAGS” in the offering plate until Oct. 21st.
- Help sort and bundle the We Care Bags on Thursday, Oct 25th from 6:30 – 8:30. There will be a sign up sheet on the bulletin board.
Beginning Sept. 16th, WE CARE BAGS will be available for you to take home to fill. If you do not pick up a bag, you can also bring items in a grocery bag or other reusable bag.
