Church Musician Opportunity
We are looking for a part-time, contract musician (organ/piano) who will play liturgy and hymns for Sunday worship and special services (one Sunday off per month). Duties also include accompanying the congregation’s choir and soloists. The right candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in planning music for services and special events.

1. Are the hours flexible? Would I be required to work evenings and/or weekends?
Yes. You will only be required to attend three Sunday services per month and the rehearsals required to perform at those services. Practice and preparation time is flexible and can be set based on the successful applicant’s schedule.
2. Is this only a one year contract?
The contract will be reviewed annually, but it is our hope to find a musician who will be interested in the position for multiple years.
3. How much will the Church Musician be paid?
The contract value is $4,800 per year, paid monthly. As a contractor, the successful candidate will be responsible for paying all required taxes, remittances, etc.
4. How much experience do I need?
The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience accompanying a congregation, choir or soloists.
5. Do I have to become a member of Sherwood Park Lutheran Church?
Membership is not a requirement. If you would like to become a member however, that is an option that is open to you as well.
6. Will I need to audition?
Candidates selected to move forward in the process will be asked to attend and participate in a meeting and audition process. As part of the audition, candidates will be asked to play a favorite hymn (organ or piano), be provided with some liturgy pieces ahead of time to practice and play (organ/piano), and sight read a choral arrangement.
