Christmas is one of the most important seasons of the church year. We celebrate the incarnation – when God became human through the birth of God’s son, Jesus.
Christmas Eve is typically the worship service that most people think of when they think of Christmas. At SPLC, the building is filled and we retell the story of Jesus birth through scripture reading, preaching, prayer, and (of course) singing. The people gathered will sing some of their favourite hymns and songs as we celebrate. Of course the night wouldn’t be complete without lighting candles and singing Silent Night together.
The 6:00pm service is our more contemporary service. One of our worship bands leads the service and we do our best to use current language, images, and symbols to describe the miracle that God is doing this night.
There usually isn’t the same kind of rush for this service as there is for the 4:00pm service, but we still invite you to come early and make yourself at home. If contemporary worship isn’t your thing, you will probably be more comfortable at the 4:00pm service.
